Co-Founding Owners Blair and John are competition level Purple Belts with over 4 years of training and competitions at some of the biggest Jiu Jitsu Events.

Who is your Mercy Jiu Jitsu Team?

I have had a long career as a BSN with Baylor and UT Southwestern. While I continue with my profession I also find solace on the mats. I started training in 2019 under the Double 5 system with Formiga. I transitioned to North South with Rodrigo Lopez in 2022 where I earned my purple belt. I am currently a member of Wise BJJ while I run my own gym. Jiu Jitsu has been an outlet for me from the beginning and the joy it brings me is what I hope to instill in those who join Mercy Jiu Jitsu.

I grew up in the Venus/Alvarado area and still reside here. Started teaching elementary education in 2011. Currently I am a 4th grade teacher in a local district. Started Jiu JItsu in 2020 with my daughter at the Double 5 system under Formiga. Have been with Wise BJJ since Fall 2022. Earned my purple belt under Ryan Wise in summer of 2023. My love of teaching and learning is what drives me in my Jiu Jitsu journey and I look forward to using that at Mercy Jiu Jitsu.

Ryan Wise is the Head Coach at Wise BJJ. Ryan grew up in Red Oak and raised his own family in the same community. Ryan has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2006. Ryan received his black belt in 2017 under Rob Ables at Marcelo Garcia Dallas and is currently a second degree black belt. Ryan has traveled throughout the Dallas area refereeing several Jiu Jitsu tournaments for the last five years. His goal is to teach others the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while learning self-defense. Ryan believes that Jiu Jitsu will help you reach personal health goals and improve your overall quality in life.
